CONNECTIVITY

Your business broadband and IT managed by one team

We arrange business broadband in Hampshire from our Whiteley base for your office, shop, workshop or home-based team. We check business fibre broadband options at your address, order your connection and configure your router and firewall. If your line fails, you call us and we chase the network provider.

Your connection supports Microsoft 365, Teams calls, cloud phones and card payments. An outage can interrupt them all. With managed IT support, we look after your broadband alongside the systems that depend on it.

Availability varies by address, even between neighbouring buildings. Your office may have several full fibre options, while a rural workshop may have limited wired connections. We explain what you can get and which option suits your work before you commit.

  • Line, router and firewall handled together

LINE TYPES

Choose your business fibre broadband understand the connection types

FTTP is full fibre business broadband, with fibre to your premises. FTTC and SoGEA use copper from the cabinet. SoGEA needs no analogue phone service.

FTTP (full fibre)

Fibre runs from the exchange all the way into your building. Full fibre gives the fastest and most reliable broadband, with much stronger upload than copper. Where your address can get it, it is usually the best choice.

FTTC (fibre to the cabinet)

Fibre reaches the green street cabinet, then copper covers the last stretch to your premises. Speed falls the further you are from the cabinet. FTTC usually came bundled with an analogue phone line, which is being retired.

SoGEA (broadband only)

SoGEA uses the same fibre-to-the-cabinet route as FTTC but drops the analogue phone service, so you pay for data only. It suits sites still waiting for full fibre whose calls already run online.

BUSINESS VS HOME

Compare business broadband packages look beyond the advertised speed

The physical line may be the same as home broadband. Compare static IP options, repair targets, support arrangements and contract terms.

Static IP addresses

A static IP address stays the same each time your router reconnects. You need one for remote access, site-to-site VPNs, viewing CCTV off site and supplier allowlists. Home packages rarely offer one.

Care levels for repairs

Business lines can carry enhanced care, with shorter repair targets and longer working hours than standard care. The network operator sets those targets and can miss them, so we match the care level to what an outage would cost you.

Upload and contention

Home broadband is built for downloading and shares capacity across many users at busy times. Video calls, cloud backup and large file transfers all depend on upload. Business plans and full fibre give you more headroom.

  • Clearer Teams and cloud phone calls
  • Faster offsite backups

Support that knows your setup

A consumer helpline will ask you to restart the router. We already know your network, so we can check the firewall, test the line and raise a fault with the network operator in one call.

BACKUP AND MOBILE

Add 4G/5G broadband backup reduce disruption during faults

We can add a 4G/5G backup router that switches automatically when your main line fails. It provides an alternative connection while repairs take place. Mobile signal and capacity affect how well it supports your calls, card payments and cloud apps.

Mobile internet can also be your main connection. It suits temporary sites, building projects, new offices awaiting installation and rural premises with limited wired options. We check coverage at your site before recommending it.

We change default passwords, update firmware, separate guest access and block unwanted inbound traffic on every router and firewall we install. These settings support the network security controls covered by Cyber Essentials.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Before changing your broadband check your phones and equipment

The traditional phone network is scheduled for retirement on 31 January 2027. List your phones, alarms, lift phones and card terminals before changing your line.

  • Phone numbers still running on an analogue line
  • Alarms, lift phones or card terminals that dial out
  • How many staff and devices share the connection at peak times
  • Whether you need a static IP for VPNs, CCTV or suppliers
  • How long your business can cope without internet
  • When your current broadband contract ends

Frequently asked questions

Business Broadband: your questions answered

What is the difference between business broadband and home broadband?

Business broadband offers contracts and support designed for businesses, sometimes over the same physical line as home broadband. Depending on the package, you can get a static IP and enhanced care with faster repair targets. We explain what is included and manage your connection alongside your router, firewall and IT.

Can I get full fibre business broadband in Hampshire?

An address check will confirm whether you can get full fibre business broadband. Coverage varies street by street, including within Basingstoke, Southampton, Portsmouth and Farnborough. Send us your postcode so we can check the options for your premises.

How does the PSTN switch-off affect my business broadband?

You need to change your broadband service if it depends on the traditional phone network. The switch-off does not mean every copper broadband connection stops working. Check any analogue phones, alarms, lift phones and card terminals before switching. Our cloud phone system service can help you move business calls onto broadband.

Do I need a static IP address for business broadband?

You need a static IP if your systems or suppliers require a fixed internet address. Some VPNs, office links and remote CCTV setups require one; others do not. We check your requirements before recommending it.

Is 4G/5G backup broadband worth adding?

It is worth considering if losing your main connection would interrupt sales, calls or access to cloud apps. Compare the backup cost with the impact of an outage. A backup router switches automatically, but its performance depends on mobile coverage and capacity.

What business fibre broadband options are available in rural Hampshire?

Full fibre and SoGEA may be available at your rural address, depending on local infrastructure. If wired options are limited, 4G/5G may provide an alternative main connection. We check availability and mobile coverage at your premises before recommending an option.

How long does a new business broadband connection take to install?

Installation time depends on the connection type and any work needed at your premises or outside the building. SoGEA using existing copper can be quicker to install than a new full fibre connection. We confirm the date once your order is accepted. Where mobile coverage allows, we can arrange temporary 4G/5G internet while you wait.
